Privacy policy

We collect the minimum needed to run a public consultation, and we treat what you send us as part of a regulatory record.

Effective September 2026. AWEL Wind Energy Ltd. complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

• Consultation submissions — name, email, community, and the comments you write. These are required by the regulatory process.
• Newsletter sign-ups — name, email, and your stated connection to the project.
• Website use — this site sets no tracking cookies and uses no analytics. Our host (Netlify) records standard server logs.

How we use it

• Consultation submissions are compiled into the Community Consultation Report filed with Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change. Your comments become public record; your email address does not. Names are included unless you ask us to withhold them.
• We use your email only to acknowledge your submission, respond to it, and — if you opt in — send project updates.
• We never sell, rent or share your information with third parties for their own purposes.

Who else sees it

Submissions are shared with provincial regulators as the law requires. Form data is processed by Netlify Forms in the United States. Our lawyers and environmental consultants may see submissions in the course of preparing filings, under confidentiality.

How long we keep it

Consultation records are retained for the life of the project and for seven years after, as required for regulatory purposes. Newsletter data is deleted when you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent for updates, or ask that your name be withheld from public reports.
